A concise list of common Chinese internet terms for beginner to intermediate learners. It covers browsing, devices, communication and basic online security vocabulary to help you read, chat and search more confidently in Chinese.

- 搜索 sōusuǒ — to search (a place, a database, online etc); to search for (something)
- 链接 liànjiē — to link; to catenate
- 点击 diǎnjī — to click; to press or hit (a key or button); to strike (on the keyboard)
- 下载 xiàzǎi — to download (a file, program, etc.)
- 上传 shàngchuán — to upload (a file, data, etc.)
- 文件 wénjiàn — document; file
- 云 yún — cloud; CL: 朵 duo3 (measure word for clouds)
- 社交 shèjiāo — interaction; social contact
- 微博 wēibó — Weibo (Chinese social media platform)
- 微信 wēixìn — Weixin / WeChat — Tencent's mobile messaging and social app (text, voice, moments, payments)
- 朋友圈 Péngyouquān — Moments (the social feed feature on WeChat where users post updates, photos, and links)

- 论坛 lùntán — forum (a place — physical or online — for discussion)
- 评论 pínglùn — to comment on; to discuss
- 用户 yònghù — user; consumer; subscriber; customer

- 速度 sùdù — speed; rate; velocity (how fast something moves or happens)
- 带宽 dàikuān — bandwidth (capacity of a network connection, usually measured in bits per second)
- 热点 rèdiǎn — hot spot; point of special interest; trending topic
