1. to go online; to use the Internet

   我每天晚上上网看新闻。 wǒ měitiānwǎnshàng shàngwǎng kàn xīnwén — I go online every evening to read the news.

2. to connect (a device) to the Internet

   请把路由器上网以后再重启电脑。 qǐng bǎ lùyóuqì shàngwǎng yǐhòu zài chóngqǐ diànnǎo — Please connect the router to the Internet before restarting the computer.

3. (of a document, photo, etc.) to be uploaded to the Internet; to put online

   我把旅行照片上网了，大家都可以看。 wǒ bǎ lǚxíng zhàopiān shàngwǎng le dàjiā dōu kěyǐ kàn — I uploaded the travel photos to the Internet; everyone can view them.

4. (sports) to move close to the net (tennis, volleyball) — to approach the net

   接发球后他马上上网封杀对手的扣球。 jiēfāqiú hòu tā mǎshàng shàngwǎng fēngshā duìshǒu de kòuqiú — After the serve, he immediately moved to the net to block the opponent's smash.
