龙骨 — lónggǔ

1. “dragon bones”: fossilized animal bones or teeth, used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)

   中药方里有用到龙骨来安神。 zhōngyàofāng lǐ yǒuyòng dào lónggǔ lái ānshén — The TCM formula uses dragon bones to calm the spirit.

2. breastbone (of a bird)

   这只鸟的龙骨很大，便于飞行时固定胸肌。 zhè zhǐ niǎo de lónggǔ hěndà biànyú fēixíng shí gùdìng xiōngjī — This bird's breastbone is large, which helps anchor the pectoral muscles for flight.

3. keel (of a ship)

   修理工检查了船的龙骨是否有裂缝。 xiūlǐgōng jiǎnchá le chuán de lónggǔ shìfǒu yǒu lièfèng — The repairer inspected the ship's keel for cracks.
