1. costume of minor characters in (traditional) opera, often featuring dragon designs

   他穿上龙套，登台演出。 tā chuān shàng lóngtào dēngtái yǎnchū — He put on the dragon-patterned opera costume and went on stage to perform.

2. walk-on; bit part; extra (an actor with no lines or a minor role)

   他在电影里只是个龙套，没有台词。 tā zài diànyǐng lǐ zhǐshì gè lóngtào méiyǒu táicí — He is just a walk-on in the film; he has no lines.
