麦草 — màicǎo

1. wheat straw; straw (stems left after harvesting grain)

   收割后，田里留下了很多麦草。 shōugē hòu tiánlǐ liúxià le hěnduō màicǎo — After the harvest, a lot of wheat straw was left in the fields.

2. animal fodder made from straw or hay; bedding for livestock

   农场用麦草喂牛，也用作猪的垫料。 nóngchǎng yòng màicǎo wèi niú yě yòngzuò zhū de diànliào — The farm feeds cows with straw and also uses it as bedding for pigs.
