鱼肉 — yúròu

1. flesh of fish; fish as food (i.e., fish meat)

   我喜欢吃鱼肉。 wǒ xǐhuān chī yúròu — I like to eat fish meat.

2. (figurative) victims of oppression; people treated as objects to be exploited

   在战争中，很多平民成了鱼肉。 zài zhànzhēng zhōng hěnduō píngmín chéng le yúròu — In the war, many civilians became victims (literally 'fish and meat').

3. (fig.) to cruelly oppress; to treat (people) as flesh to be carved up

   那个集团不断鱼肉百姓，剥夺他们的权利和财产。 nàge jítuán bùduàn yúròubǎixìng bōduó tāmen de quánlì hé cáichǎn — That group continually oppressed the people, depriving them of rights and property.
