1. undecipherable handwriting; illegible scribbles

   他写的字像鬼画符，根本看不清楚。 tā xiě de zì xiàng guǐhuàfú gēnběn kànbùqīngchǔ — His handwriting looks like scribbles; you can't read it at all.

2. scribblings; messy writing or drawing

   墙上到处都是孩子们的鬼画符。 qiángshàng dàochù dōu shì háizi men de guǐhuàfú — The walls are covered with the children's scribblings.

3. (fig.) hypocritical talk; insincere or empty words

   别听他的，那只是鬼画符，没什么诚意。 bié tīng tā de nà zhǐshì guǐhuàfú méishénme chéngyì — Don't listen to him; that's just hypocritical talk with no sincerity.
