鬼打墙 — guǐdǎqiáng

1. to walk in circles or become disoriented (as if haunted); to get lost (often used for suddenly finding oneself back where one started)

   雾太大了，我们在那条小路上鬼打墙，走了好几圈才出来。 wù tàidà le wǒmen zài nàtiáo xiǎo lùshàng guǐ dǎ qiáng zǒu le hǎojǐquān cái chūlái — The fog was so thick that we walked in circles on that path and didn't get out until after several laps.

2. colloquial: to be obsessed or fixated on something; to be in a daze or mentally stuck

   他最近一直在想那件事，真有点鬼打墙，怎么劝都不听。 tā zuìjìn yìzhí zài xiǎng nàjiànshì zhēn yǒudiǎn guǐ dǎ qiáng zěnme quàn dōu bù tīng — Lately he's kept thinking about that matter; he's kind of stuck and won't listen no matter how you advise him.
