1. to attain gradually; to be gradually brought to (a state)

   经过长期训练，他的习性才慢慢被驯。 jīngguò chángqī xùnliàn tā de xíxìng cái mànmàn bèi xùn — After long training, his habits were gradually brought under control.

2. to tame; to domesticate; to train (an animal)

   他们费了很大劲才把那匹马驯服。 tāmen fèi le hěndà jìn cái bǎ nà pǐ mǎ xùnfú — They worked hard to tame that horse.
