1. to shoot oneself / to die from a gunshot (literally “drink a bullet”); to be killed by gunfire

   他在逃跑时被军队围困，最后选择饮弹自尽。 tā zài táopǎo shí bèi jūnduì wéikùn zuìhòu xuǎnzé yǐndànzìjìn — When he was trapped by the army while fleeing, he finally chose to shoot himself.
