   饭碗摔碎了，得再买一个。 fànwǎn shuāisuì le dé zài mǎi yígè — The rice bowl broke; I need to buy another one.

2. fig. livelihood; someone's job or source of income

   他担心失去饭碗，所以不敢辞职。 tā dānxīn shīqù fànwǎn suǒyǐ bùgǎn cízhí — He worries about losing his livelihood, so he doesn't dare resign.
