1. diner (in a restaurant etc)

   食客排队等着点菜。 shíkè páiduì děng zhe diǎncài — Diners lined up waiting to order.

2. hanger-on (someone who clings to a person or group for favors)

   他在那帮名人周围当食客，想借机出名。 tā zài nà bāng míngrén zhōuwéi dāng shíkè xiǎng jièjī chūmíng — He hangs around that group of celebrities trying to get famous.

3. sponger; freeloader (someone who eats at others' expense)

   别总做食客，要学会自己付钱。 bié zǒng zuò shíkè yào xuéhuì zìjǐ fùqián — Don't always be a sponger; learn to pay your own way.
