风雪 — fēngxuě

   昨天晚上遇到了一场大风雪，交通几乎瘫痪。 zuótiānwǎnshàng yùdào le yīcháng dàfēngxuě jiāotōng jīhū tānhuàn — Last night we ran into a heavy snowstorm and traffic was almost paralyzed.

2. fig. hardships; adverse conditions (often used to describe difficult circumstances endured)

   他们顶着风雪，坚持把物资送到受灾地区。 tāmen dǐng zháo fēngxuě jiānchí bǎ wùzī sòngdào shòuzāidìqū — They braved the wind and snow and kept delivering supplies to the disaster area.
