   她顾盼之间，含着温柔与惆怅。 tā gùpàn zhījiān hán zhe wēnróu yǔ chóuchàng — She glanced about with a mixture of gentleness and wistfulness.

2. to care for; to look after (literary)

   老人年迈，子女日夜顾盼，不敢稍懈。 lǎorén niánmài zǐnǚ rìyè gùpàn bùgǎn shāoxiè — The elderly person grew frail, and the children watched over and cared for them day and night, never slacking.
