1. garlic chives (Allium tuberosum); Chinese chives

   菜市场有新鲜的韭菜，买一把回去。 càishìchǎng yǒu xīnxiān de jiǔcài mǎi yībǎ huíqù — There are fresh garlic chives at the market; buy a bunch to take home.

2. (colloquial, derogatory) naive or easily exploited people (esp. small investors or consumers), likened to chives that can be repeatedly harvested for profit

   那家公司靠吸引韭菜来炒股，结果很多人亏了钱。 nàjiā gōngsī kào xīyǐn jiǔcài lái chǎogǔ jiéguǒ hěnduō rén kuīle qián — That company relied on attracting 'chives' to speculate in stocks; as a result many people lost money.
