面糊 — miànhù

1. panada; a thick paste made from cooked flour

   他给病人喂了一些面糊以补充能量。 tā gěi bìngrén wèi le yīxiē miànhù yǐ bǔchōng néngliàng — He fed the patient some panada to replenish energy.

2. cooked flour paste (a thick paste of flour and water)

   做汤的时候可以用面糊勾芡让汤变稠。 zuò tāng de shíhòu kěyǐ yòng miànhù gōuqiàn ràng tāng biàn chóu — When making soup you can use flour paste to thicken it.

3. flour paste used in crafts (adhesive paste)

   孩子们用面糊把剪纸粘在卡纸上。 háizi men yòng miànhù bǎ jiǎnzhǐ zhān zài kǎzhǐ shàng — The children used flour paste to stick the cut paper onto the card.

4. batter used in cooking (mixture of flour and liquid for frying or coating)

   把鱼片裹上面糊再下锅炸，外皮会更酥脆。 bǎ yúpiàn guǒ shàng miànhú zài xiàguō zhà wàipí huì gèng sūcuì — Coat the fish in batter before frying; the crust will be crisper.

1. (of food) starchy and soft; mealy

   这土豆煮得太久，口感很面糊。 zhè tǔdòu zhǔ dé tàijiǔ kǒugǎn hěn miànhù — These potatoes were overcooked and have a starchy, mushy texture.
