1. to stand aside; to move to the side (so that someone/something can pass); tell someone to get out of the way

   汽车来了，大家都靠边站。 qìchē lái le dàjiā dōu kàobiānzhàn — The car is coming; everyone move to the side.

2. to be sidelined; to be marginalized or excluded from an activity or decision

   在会议上他被领导们靠边站，根本没发言机会。 zài huìyì shàng tā bèi lǐngdǎo men kàobiānzhàn gēnběn méi fāyán jīhuì — At the meeting he was sidelined by the leaders and had no chance to speak.
