青蒿 — qīnghāo

1. Artemisia annua (sweet wormwood); a medicinal herb used in traditional Chinese medicine and the source of the antimalarial compound artemisinin.

   青蒿常用于中药方剂，也因其含有青蒿素而被用于治疗疟疾。 qīnghāo chángyòng yú zhōngyào fāngjì yě yīnqí hányǒu qīnghāosù ér bèi yòngyú zhìliáo nüèjí — Qinghao is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine formulas and, because it contains artemisinin, is used to treat malaria.

2. A common aromatic plant of the genus Artemisia; generally referred to as wormwood or mugwort in everyday usage.

   村里野地里长着很多青蒿，夏天开花时有一股清香。 cūnlǐ yědì lǐzhǎng zhe hěnduō qīnghāo xiàtiān kāihuā shí yǒu yīgǔ qīngxiāng — Many qinghao plants grow in the village fields; they give off a fresh scent when they bloom in summer.
