霉气 — méiqì

1. a moldy smell; musty odor

   房间里有霉气。 fángjiān lǐ yǒu méiqì — The room has a moldy smell.

2. damp and rotten; affected by mold or mildew

   这些水果发霉，带着霉气。 zhèxiē shuǐguǒ fāméi dài zhe méiqì — These fruits are moldy and give off a musty smell.

3. fig. rotten luck; a streak of bad luck

   最近他背着霉气，连连倒霉。 zuìjìn tā bèizhe méiqì liánlián dǎoméi — Lately he's been plagued by bad luck.
