   听到这个消息我很难过。 tīngdào zhège xiāoxī wǒ hěn nánguò — I felt very sad when I heard the news.

2. to feel unwell; physically ill or uncomfortable

   我头疼，觉得有点难过。 wǒ tóuténg juéde yǒudiǎn nánguò — I have a headache and feel a bit unwell.

3. (of life/situation) to be difficult; hard to get through

   最近他家里的日子很难过。 zuìjìn tā jiālǐ de rìzi hěn nánguò — Lately life at his home has been very difficult.
