难事 — nánshì

1. a difficult matter; something hard to do

   这件难事需要大家一起想办法。 zhèjiàn nánshì xūyào dàjiā yìqǐ xiǎng bànfǎ — This difficult matter requires everyone to work together to find a solution.

2. a problem or trouble; an awkward or embarrassing situation

   他把事情弄得一团糟，现在成了难事，不知道怎么办。 tā bǎ shìqíng nòng dé yītuánzāo xiànzài chéng le nánshì bùzhī dào zěnmebàn — He messed things up and now it's a problem; he doesn't know what to do.
