隐藏 — yǐncáng

1. to hide; to conceal; to mask

   他把证据隐藏起来，没人能找到。 tā bǎ zhèngjù yǐncáng qǐlái méirén néng zhǎodào — He hid the evidence so no one could find it.

2. to shelter; to harbor; to hide someone or something (as a refuge)

   村里的医生在战争期间隐藏了很多逃难的人。 cūnlǐ de yīshēng zài zhànzhēng qījiān yǐncáng le hěnduō táonàn de rén — The village doctor sheltered many refugees during the war.

3. to hide oneself; to lie low; to stay out of sight

   那只猫总喜欢隐藏在沙发后面。 nà zhǐ māo zǒng xǐhuān yǐncáng zài shāfā hòumiàn — That cat always likes to hide behind the sofa.

4. hidden; implicit; covert; recessed (as in lighting)

   设计师建议在天花板上安装隐藏灯，光线更柔和。 shèjìshī jiànyì zài tiānhuābǎn shàng ānzhuāng yǐncáng dēng guāngxiàn gèng róuhé — The designer recommended installing recessed lighting in the ceiling; the light is softer.
