1. falling intonation (linguistics)

   在汉语中，降调常用来表示疑问或感叹。 zài hànyǔ zhōng jiàngdiào chángyòng lái biǎoshì yíwèn huò gǎntàn — In Chinese, falling intonation is often used to indicate questions or exclamations.

2. to lower the key of a tune

   歌手要求把这首歌降调，以便更容易演唱。 gēshǒu yāoqiú bǎ zhè shǒugē jiàngdiào yǐbiàn gèng róngyì yǎnchàng — The singer asked to lower the key of the song so it would be easier to sing.

3. to demote

   因为犯了错，他被降调到较低的职位。 yīnwèi fànlecuò tā bèi jiàngdiào dào jiào dī de zhíwèi — Because he made a mistake, he was demoted to a lower position.
