阿妈 — āmā

1. grandma (paternal) (Taiwan)

   阿妈每天早上都会做粥给我们吃。 āmā měitiān zǎoshàng dū huì zuò zhōu gěi wǒmen chī — Grandma (paternal) makes porridge for us every morning.

2. mother (dialectal)

   他从小就跟着阿妈在田里干活。 tā cóngxiǎo jiù gēnzhe āmā zài tiánlǐ gànhuó — Ever since he was little, he worked in the fields with his mother.

3. nurse; amah (household servant who cares for children)

   孩子们的阿妈负责照看他们并哄他们睡觉。 háizi men de āmā fùzé zhàokàn tāmen bìng hǒng tāmen shuìjiào — The children's amah is responsible for looking after them and putting them to sleep.

4. (Manchu) father

   在满语里，阿妈可以表示父亲的意思。 zài mǎnyǔ lǐ āmā kěyǐ biǎoshì fùqīn de yìsi — In Manchu, 阿妈 can mean 'father'.
