1. position (military); stronghold

   他们占领了敌人的阵地。 tāmen zhànlǐng le dírén de zhèndì — They captured the enemy's position.

2. front (line of battle); front line

   部队在前线的阵地坚守着。 bùduì zài qiánxiàn de zhèndì jiānshǒu zhe — The troops are holding the positions on the front line.
