阉 — yān

1. to castrate

   他把公羊阉了。 tā bǎ gōngyáng yān le — He castrated the ram.

2. a castrate; a eunuch

   古代宫中有很多阉人。 gǔdài gōngzhōng yǒu hěnduō yānrén — There were many eunuchs in the imperial palace in ancient times.

3. neuter (having been castrated)

   这只公猫被阉了，性格更温顺。 zhè zhǐ gōngmāo bèi yān le xìnggé gèng wēnshùn — This tomcat was neutered and is calmer in temperament.
