闻见 — wénjiàn

1. to smell; to detect an odor

   她一进房间就闻见了花香。 tā yī jìn fángjiān jiù wénjiàn le huāxiāng — She smelled the scent of flowers as soon as she entered the room.

2. to hear; to learn (news, information)

   我昨天从朋友那里闻见了这个消息。 wǒ zuótiān cóng péngyǒu nàlǐ wénjiàn le zhège xiāoxī — I heard this news from a friend yesterday.

3. knowledge; information (often news or rumor)

   关于那件事的闻见还不太可靠。 guānyú nàjiànshì de wénjiàn hái bù tài kěkào — The information about that matter is still not very reliable.
