门户 — ménhù

1. door; gate

   请关上门户。 qǐng guānshàng ménhù — Please close the door.

2. strategic gateway; key pass (military or geographical)

   那座山口是通往北方的重要门户。 nà zuò shānkǒu shì tōngwǎng běifāng de zhòngyào ménhù — That mountain pass is an important gateway to the north.

3. portal (website)

   他们在公司网站上建立了一个新的门户。 tāmen zài gōngsī wǎngzhàn shàng jiànlì le yígè xīn de ménhù — They set up a new portal on the company website.

4. faction; sect; group within an organization

   党内的不同门户在政策上有分歧。 dǎngnèi de bùtóng ménhù zài zhèngcè shàngyǒu fēnqí — Different factions within the party disagree on policy.

5. family; household; family status (old usage)
