1. door

   门子关上了。 ménzi guānshàng le — The door closed.

2. doorman (old)

   老宅里还有一个门子守着。 lǎozhái lǐ háiyǒu yígè ménzi shǒu zhe — There is still a doorman watching over the old residence.

3. hanger-on of an aristocrat; someone attached to a powerful person

   他只是那位大官的门子，经常替他跑腿。 tā zhǐshì nàwèi dàguān de ménzi jīngcháng tì tā pǎotuǐ — He is just a hanger-on of that high official and often runs errands for him.

4. social influence; pull

   他在圈子里很有门子，办事很方便。 tā zài quānzilǐ hěn yǒu ménzi bànshì hěn fāngbiàn — He has a lot of pull in the circle, so getting things done is easy.

5. to exert pull or influence; to use connections

   他想靠门子办到那件事。 tā xiǎngkào ménzi bàndào nàjiànshì — He wants to get that matter done by using his connections.
