1. to lock (a door); to close with a latch; to lock into place

   我们出门前把门锁定了。 wǒmen chū ménqián bǎmén suǒdìng le — We locked the door before leaving.

2. to lock (a computer file or system); to deny access (e.g. by password-protection)

   请把这个文档锁定，别人就不能修改了。 qǐng bǎ zhège wéndàng suǒdìng biérén jiù bùnéng xiūgǎi le — Please lock this document so others can't modify it.

3. to focus attention on; to target (a person, group, market, etc.)

   公司决定把今年的广告锁定在年轻消费者群体。 gōngsī juédìng bǎ jīnnián de guǎnggào suǒdìng zài niánqīng xiāofèizhě qúntǐ — The company decided to target this year's advertising at young consumers.
