销 — xiāo

1. to melt (metal)

   把废铜放入炉中销成液态再炼纯。 bǎ fèitóng fàngrù lú zhōng xiāo chéng yètài zài liàn chún — Put the scrap copper into the furnace to melt it into liquid before refining it.

2. to cancel; to annul

   公司决定销掉那份合同，因为条款已无效。 gōngsī juédìng xiāodiào nàfèn hétóng yīnwèi tiáokuǎn yǐ wúxiào — The company decided to cancel that contract because the terms were no longer valid.

3. to sell (often in compounds: 销售)

   我们负责产品在海外市场的销路和推广。 wǒmen fùzé chǎnpǐn zài hǎiwài shìchǎng de xiāolù hé tuīguǎng — We are responsible for the product's sales channels and promotion in overseas markets.

4. to expend; to spend

   这笔工程费用已全部销在当年的预算中。 zhèbǐ gōngchéng fèiyòng yǐ quánbù xiāo zài dāngnián de yùsuàn zhōng — This project expense has been fully expended in that year's budget.

5. pin; bolt (a small fastening piece)

   门上的销掉了，需要换一个新的。 ménshàng de xiāodiào le xūyào huàn yígè xīn de — The pin on the door fell out; it needs to be replaced with a new one.

6. to fasten with a pin or bolt

   把护栏用销固定好，别让它晃动。 bǎ hùlán yòng xiāo gùdìng hǎo bié ràng tā huàngdòng — Fasten the railing with a pin so it doesn't wobble.
