铺陈 — pūchén

1. to arrange; to lay out; to spread out

   他把文件铺陈在桌子上，便于大家查看。 tā bǎ wénjiàn pūchén zài zhuōzi shàng biànyú dàjiā chákàn — He laid the documents out on the table so that everyone could look them over.

2. to narrate in detail; to describe at great length; to elaborate

   作者在序言中铺陈了故事的背景和细节。 zuòzhě zài xùyán zhōng pūchén le gùshì de bèijǐng hé xìjié — The author elaborated on the background and details of the story in the preface.
