铲子 — chǎnzi

1. shovel; spade (long-handled digging tool)

   院子里没有铲子，我们干不成这活儿。 yuànzi lǐ méiyǒu chǎnzi wǒmen gàn bùchéng zhè huóer — There is no shovel in the yard, we can't finish this job.

2. trowel (small hand tool for gardening or masonry)

   泥工用铲子把水泥抹平。 nígōng yòng chǎnzi bǎ shuǐní mǒ píng — The mason uses a trowel to smooth the cement.

3. spatula (kitchen utensil for flipping or scraping)

   炒菜时用铲子把菜翻匀。 chǎocài shí yòng chǎnzi bǎ cài fān yún — Use a spatula to stir-fry and turn the food evenly.
