1. iron (the metal)

   这座桥主要由铁建成。 zhè zuò qiáo zhǔyào yóu tiě jiànchéng — This bridge is mainly built of iron.

2. arms; weapons

   战乱年代里，百姓往往手无寸铁。 zhànluàn niándài lǐ bǎixìng wǎngwǎng shǒuwúcùntiě — In times of war, ordinary people were often unarmed.

3. hard; strong; unbendable
