钓鱼 — diàoyú

1. to fish (with line and hook); to angle

   周末我们去河边钓鱼吧。 zhōumò wǒmen qù hébiān diàoyú ba — Let's go fishing by the river this weekend.

2. (fig.) to entrap; to lure someone into a trap or a compromising situation

   那场面是对手设的圈套，企图钓鱼让我出错。 nà chǎngmiàn shì duìshǒu shè de quāntào qǐtú diàoyú ràng wǒ chūcuò — That was a trap set by the opponent, trying to lure me into making a mistake.

3. (Taiwan) to repeatedly nod one's head while dozing

   开会太无聊，他在角落里不停地钓鱼。 kāihuì tài wúliáo tā zài jiǎoluòlǐ bùtíng dì diàoyú — The meeting was so boring that he kept nodding off in the corner.
