1. pheasant (bird)

   树林里跑出了一只野鸡。 shùlín lǐ pǎo chū le yīzhī yějī — A pheasant ran out of the woods.

2. unregistered; operating illegally (of a business)

   那家餐厅是野鸡店，没有营业执照。 nàjiā cāntīng shì yějī diàn méiyǒu yíngyèzhízhào — That restaurant is an unlicensed (illegal) place; it has no business license.

3. (slang) prostitute

   他被抓到和几个野鸡在一起。 tā bèi zhuādào hé jǐgè yějī zài yìqǐ — He was caught with several prostitutes.
