chóngxiū

重修 — chóngxiū

1. to reconstruct; to repair; to revamp (a building, road, etc.)

   这座桥需要重修才能通车。 zhè zuò qiáo xūyào chóngxiū cáinéng tōngchē — This bridge needs to be rebuilt before it can be reopened to traffic.

2. to revise; to redo (work, a document, plans)

   我们把合同的条款重修了一遍。 wǒmen bǎ hétóng de tiáokuǎn chóngxiū le yībiàn — We revised the terms of the contract.

3. to retake a failed course (in school/university)

   因为成绩太低，他这个学期要重修那门课。 yīnwèi chéngjì tài dī tā zhège xuéqī yào chóngxiū nà mén kè — Because his grade was too low, he has to retake that course this semester.
