2. color; complexion; looks; variant of 彩[cai3]

   这幅画颜色很鲜明，采色丰富。 zhèfú huà yánsè hěn xiānmíng cǎisè fēngfù — The painting has vivid colors; the palette is rich.

采 — cài

1. bound morpheme appearing only in compounds (e.g. 采邑, 采地); no independent use

   诸侯赐功臣以采，世代享其食邑。 zhūhóu cì gōngchén yǐ cǎi shìdài xiǎng qí shíyì — The feudal lord granted his meritorious official a fief, whose family enjoyed its revenue for generations.
