1. sour and bitter (taste); tart and astringent

   这种水果吃起来酸苦，不太好吃。 zhèzhǒng shuǐguǒ chī qǐlái suānkǔ bùtàihǎo chī — This fruit tastes sour and bitter; it's not very tasty.

2. sorrowful and bitter (emotion); painful to endure

   他回忆起那段往事，心里觉得很酸苦。 tā huíyìqǐ nàduàn wǎngshì xīnlǐ juéde hěn suānkǔ — He recalled that period of the past and felt very sorrowful and bitter inside.
