酸楚 — suānchǔ

1. disconsolate; forlorn

   听到坏消息后，他显得非常酸楚。 tīngdào huàixiāoxī hòu tā xiǎnde fēicháng suānchǔ — After hearing the bad news, he looked very disconsolate.

2. grievance; feeling of sorrow or distress

   他心里有酸楚，说不出口。 tā xīnlǐ yǒu suānchǔ shuōbùchūkǒu — He has a grievance in his heart that he cannot express.
