遗愿 — yíyuàn

1. final wishes of a person who has died; the deceased's last wishes

   他临终时交代的遗愿是把骨灰撒在大海里。 tā línzhōngshí jiāodài de yíyuàn shì bǎ gǔhuī sā zài dà hǎilǐ — His final wish was to have his ashes scattered at sea.

2. a strong wish or desire someone hopes to fulfill before they die (sometimes used figuratively)

   老王最大的遗愿就是在退休前环游世界。 lǎowáng zuìdà de yíyuàn jiùshì zài tuìxiū qián huányóushìjiè — Old Wang's greatest wish is to travel the world before retiring.
