逢 — féng

1. to meet by chance; to come across

   昨天逢旧友在街上走过，很惊喜。 zuótiān féng jiùyǒu zài jiēshàng zǒuguò hěn jīngxǐ — Yesterday I ran into an old friend on the street — a nice surprise.

2. (of a calendar event) to come along; (of an event) to fall on (a particular day)

   今年春节逢周末，公司放假三天。 jīnniánchūnjié féng zhōumò gōngsī fàngjià sāntiān — This year's Spring Festival falls on a weekend, so the company gives three days off.

3. to fawn upon; to ingratiate oneself with

   他总是逢领导笑脸相迎，大家都看不惯。 tā zǒngshì féng lǐngdǎo xiàoliǎnxiāngyíng dàjiā dōu kànbùguàn — He always fawns on the boss with a smiling face; everyone disapproves.
