   老师通知我们明天不上课。 lǎoshī tōngzhī wǒmen míngtiān bù shàngkè — The teacher notified us that there is no class tomorrow.

2. notice; notification

   公司在门口贴了一张通知，说明搬迁日期。 gōngsī zài ménkǒu tiē le yīzhāng tōngzhī shuōmíng bānqiān rìqī — The company posted a notice at the entrance explaining the moving date.
