逊 — xùn

1. to abdicate; to relinquish (a throne, position, responsibility)

   皇帝在压力下不得不逊位。 huángdì zài yālì xià bùdé bùxùn wèi — The emperor was forced to abdicate under pressure.

2. modest; unassuming; humble

   他为人很逊，不炫耀自己的成就。 tā wéi rén hěn xùn bù xuànyào zìjǐ de chéngjiù — He is very modest and doesn't show off his achievements.

3. yielding; acquiescent; submissive

   他为人谦逊，在争论中总是主动退让。 tā wéi rén qiānxùn zài zhēnglùn zhōng zǒngshì zhǔdòng tuìràng — He is a humble person and always takes the initiative to yield in arguments.

4. to be inferior to; to fall short of

   他的技术在速度上逊于对手。 tā de jìshù zài sùdù shàng xùnyú duìshǒu — His technique is inferior to his opponent's in speed.

5. (slang) to suck; to be bad/unsatisfactory

   这个游戏太逊了，完全没有趣味。 zhège yóuxì tài xùn le wánquán méiyǒu qùwèi — This game really sucks; it's completely unfun.
