1. to see off the Kitchen God (traditional rite of sending the Kitchen God to heaven to report on the household)

   农历腊月二十三，很多家庭要送灶，祈求来年平安。 nónglì làyuè èrshísān hěnduō jiātíng yào sòng zào qíqiú láinián píngān — On the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month many families see off the Kitchen God, praying for safety in the coming year.
