进行 — jìnxíng

1. to proceed; to be in progress; to be underway

   会议正在进行。 huìyì zhèngzài jìnxíng — The meeting is underway.

2. to carry out; to conduct (an investigation, discussion, experiment etc.)

   警方对那起案件进行调查。 jǐngfāng duì nà qǐ ànjiàn jìnxíng diàochá — The police are conducting an investigation into that case.

3. to be on the march; to advance (of troops)

   军队开始向前进行进攻。 jūnduì kāishǐ xiàngqián jìnxíng jìngōng — The troops began to advance/launch an attack.
