1. to move; to shift; motion

   他的手在慢慢运动。 tā de shǒu zài mànmàn yùndòng — His hand is moving slowly.

2. to exercise (physically); to do sport

   他每天早上去公园运动半小时。 tā měitiān zǎoshàng qù gōngyuán yùndòng bànxiǎoshí — He goes to the park every morning to exercise for half an hour.

3. sports; athletics (collective noun)

   学校有很多运动项目，比如篮球和足球。 xuéxiào yǒu hěnduō yùndòng xiàngmù bǐrú lánqiú hé zúqiú — The school has many sports programs, such as basketball and football.

4. movement; campaign (e.g., social or political campaign)

   这次环保运动吸引了很多志愿者参加。 zhècì huánbǎo yùndòng xīyǐn le hěnduō zhìyuànzhě cānjiā — This environmental campaign attracted many volunteers.
