1. to exceed the speed limit; to drive or move too fast

   他因为过速被罚款了。 tā yīnwèi guòsù bèi fákuǎn le — He was fined for speeding.

2. med. (of heartbeat) abnormally fast; tachy- (as a prefix indicating rapidity)

   他突然感到心跳过速，赶紧坐下休息。 tā tūrán gǎndào xīntiào guòsù gǎnjǐn zuòxià xiūxī — He suddenly felt his heartbeat racing and quickly sat down to rest.
