1. to speak with; to have a (brief) conversation; to pass on (words or a message)

   他刚跟经理过话，说明了情况。 tā gāng gēn jīnglǐ guòhuà shuōmíng le qíngkuàng — He just spoke with the manager and explained the situation.

2. a brief remark or casual talk; something said in passing

   那只是随便过话，别太当真。 nà zhǐshì suíbiàn guòhuà bié tài dàngzhēn — That was just a casual remark; don't take it too seriously.
