过渡 — guòdù

1. to cross over (by ferry)

   我们坐船过渡到河对岸。 wǒmen zuòchuán guòdù dào hé duìàn — We took a ferry across to the other side.

2. transition; interim (period of change)

   公司正处于组织结构的过渡期。 gōngsī zhèng chǔyú zǔzhī jiégòu de guòdùqī — The company is currently in a transition period in its organizational structure.

3. caretaker (administration); provisional government/administration

   在选举前成立了一个过渡政府来维持秩序。 zài xuǎnjǔ qián chénglì le yígè guòdùzhèngfǔ lái wéichízhìxù — A transitional government was set up before the election to maintain order.
